Cast across and slightly down, let it sink, then strip in short pulls with deliberate pauses. Work it along undercut banks, over drop-offs and through the deep slots. Fish it aggressively — a streamer eat is a reaction, not a decision.

The Zonker’s rabbit strip is the whole point. Wet rabbit fur pulses and undulates on the pause, so the fly looks alive during the moments when a stripped streamer would otherwise go dead — and the pause is when most streamer eats happen.
Olive over a flashy body reads as a sculpin or a small trout. The bead head gets it down quickly and gives it a jigging action on the retrieve. Size 12 is small enough to fish on a trout rod without a sink tip.
